Whale Migration Season:

Mid-June to October are the peak months to get a glimpse of the gentle giants migrating and swimming in their natural environment. Every year, thousands of humpback whales travel right past us during their annual migration.

DID YOU KNOW...

  1. Humpback Whales can only hold their breath for a half an hour before having to surface to take a breath of air! These whales have two blowholes, where you can often see a big spurt of water fly into the air as they prepare to take their breath. While having a sleep, they must remember how to breathe, so they shut off only half their brain when they decide to take a snooze.

  2. Humpbacks migrate annually from the cold waters of Antarctica where they feed on krill to the warmer waters of northern Australia to mate and breed, migrating over 5000km each year.

  3. Humpback Whales are identifiable by the unique markings on their tail fluke therefore, no two tail flukes are the same.
